What the rules say
There's no statutory minimum qualification for general foot care work, provided you never use the protected titles "podiatrist" or "chiropodist" -- those are reserved for HCPC-registered practitioners only. Nearly every professional association, insurer and care-home client will still expect evidence of recognised training. Public liability insurance isn't a legal requirement for a sole trader, but it's close to essential in practice given the hands-on nature of the work.
Quick answers
Do care homes in Burnfoot expect any particular checks or certificates?
Many care homes across Burnfoot expect to see evidence of relevant training, insurance, and often a DBS check before letting a practitioner treat residents -- it's worth having these ready before approaching local homes.
Can I treat diabetic clients as a non-HCPC foot care practitioner in Burnfoot?
Many Foot Health Practitioners in Burnfoot do work with diabetic clients, but for complex or high-risk diabetic foot conditions it's standard practice to involve the client's GP or a registered podiatrist rather than treat alone.
How often do foot care clients in Burnfoot typically rebook?
Foot care is generally a recurring need every few weeks rather than a one-off treatment, which is one reason practitioners in Burnfoot often build a predictable round of regular clients over time.
What equipment do I need to start in Burnfoot?
At minimum, practitioners starting out in Burnfoot need basic instruments, sterilisation equipment, and appropriate clinical waste arrangements -- the Foot Care Business Launch Kit sets out the full starter list.
