What you can and can't call yourself before you start working in Wester Auchinloch and East Dunbartonshire.
See what's inside the Foot Care Business Launch Kit — £22A mobile foot care business means travelling to clients rather than working from fixed premises -- and Wester Auchinloch, like everywhere in the UK, has its own rules about what you can and can't call yourself. Here's the picture before your first visit in East Dunbartonshire.
What the rules say
Foot care has no statutory training requirement of its own -- what's strictly off-limits is using the protected titles "podiatrist" or "chiropodist" without HCPC registration. Clients, insurers and care-home referrers will still generally expect to see recognised training. Public liability insurance isn't a legal must for a sole trader, but given the hands-on nature of the work, most practitioners treat it as non-negotiable.
Quick answers
How often do foot care clients in Wester Auchinloch typically rebook?
Foot care is generally a recurring need every few weeks rather than a one-off treatment, which is one reason practitioners in Wester Auchinloch often build a predictable round of regular clients over time.
What equipment do I need to start in Wester Auchinloch?
At minimum, practitioners starting out in Wester Auchinloch need basic instruments, sterilisation equipment, and appropriate clinical waste arrangements -- the Foot Care Business Launch Kit sets out the full starter list.
Can I call myself a foot care practitioner in Wester Auchinloch without a qualification?
There's no statutory minimum qualification for general foot care work, provided you never use the protected titles "podiatrist" or "chiropodist" (HCPC-only) or misrepresent clinical qualifications you don't have. Clients and insurers in Wester Auchinloch will still expect recognised training.
Do I need to be HCPC-registered to offer foot care in Wester Auchinloch?
Only if you want to use the titles "podiatrist" or "chiropodist". You can provide general nail/callus/corn care in Wester Auchinloch as a non-registered Foot Health Practitioner without HCPC registration.
