Open the Foot Care Business Launch Kit to see everything included — £22A mobile foot care business means travelling to clients rather than working from fixed premises -- and Widmore, like everywhere in the UK, has its own rules about what you can and can't call yourself. Here's the picture before your first visit in Bromley.
What the rules say
There's no statutory minimum qualification for general foot care work, provided you never use the protected titles "podiatrist" or "chiropodist" -- those are reserved for HCPC-registered practitioners only. Nearly every professional association, insurer and care-home client will still expect evidence of recognised training. Public liability insurance isn't a legal requirement for a sole trader, but it's close to essential in practice given the hands-on nature of the work.
Quick answers
Do care homes in Widmore expect any particular checks or certificates?
Many care homes across Widmore expect to see evidence of relevant training, insurance, and often a DBS check before letting a practitioner treat residents -- it's worth having these ready before approaching local homes.
Can I treat diabetic clients as a non-HCPC foot care practitioner in Widmore?
Many Foot Health Practitioners in Widmore do work with diabetic clients, but for complex or high-risk diabetic foot conditions it's standard practice to involve the client's GP or a registered podiatrist rather than treat alone.
How often do foot care clients in Widmore typically rebook?
Foot care is generally a recurring need every few weeks rather than a one-off treatment, which is one reason practitioners in Widmore often build a predictable round of regular clients over time.
What equipment do I need to start in Widmore?
At minimum, practitioners starting out in Widmore need basic instruments, sterilisation equipment, and appropriate clinical waste arrangements -- the Foot Care Business Launch Kit sets out the full starter list.
