What the rules say
No single licence governs mobile hairdressing across the UK -- it comes down to the individual council, and byelaw registration requirements vary from area to area, some keeping them and some not. Confirming the position with your own local authority is essential before trading. Legally, no qualification is required, though HABIA-aligned NVQ/SVQ training remains the standard clients and insurers expect, especially for chemical and colour work.
Quick answers
Do I need a council licence to be a mobile hairdresser in Bushby?
There's no single national licence. Some local authorities retain their own hairdressing/barbering byelaws requiring registration; others have deregulated entirely. Check directly with the council covering Bushby before you start trading.
Do I need a qualification to start a hairdressing business in Bushby?
No qualification is legally required to trade in Bushby or anywhere in the UK. HABIA-aligned NVQ/SVQ qualifications are the commercially expected industry standard, especially for colour and chemical services.
How do I get my first clients as a mobile hairdresser in Bushby?
Most mobile hairdressers in Bushby build their first client base through personal networks, local social media groups, and word-of-mouth referrals. The Hairdressing Business Launch Kit covers a full marketing and client-building plan.
Is patch testing a legal requirement for mobile hairdressing in Bushby?
This is genuinely contested and depends on the specific product and service -- it isn't a single settled legal requirement everywhere in the UK, including Bushby. The Hairdressing Business Launch Kit sets out the honest, current picture rather than flattening it into a false yes or no.
