What the rules say
Mobile nails, lash and brow treatments, waxing, facials and make-up carry no single UK-wide licence. What genuinely varies is local: some London boroughs license nail treatments at premises and exempt mobile nail work specifically, but that exemption isn't confirmed to apply to every other treatment you might offer, and outside London each council sets its own position -- always check per treatment. Semi-permanent make-up, chemical peels, electrolysis and laser/IPL are out of scope here and regulated separately and more strictly. Cosmetic products must meet labelling and compliance standards. DBS depends on whether personal-care assistance is involved, not the treatment category itself. Public liability insurance stays optional in law for a sole trader, but employers' liability insurance is a legal requirement the moment you employ anyone outside your family.
Questions about starting in Honor Oak Park
Do I need to register as a waste carrier to dispose of nail or wax products used in Honor Oak Park?
This likely falls under a general hazardous-waste duty of care, though it hasn't been confirmed from a primary source for this specific trade -- it's worth checking directly with the Environment Agency or a licensed waste contractor covering Honor Oak Park.
Do I need a licence to start a mobile beauty business in Honor Oak Park?
There's no single national licence covering nails, lashes, waxing, facials or make-up. Some London boroughs license nail treatments at fixed premises and exempt mobile work specifically -- check directly with the council covering Honor Oak Park, treatment by treatment.
Can I offer semi-permanent make-up as part of my mobile beauty business in Honor Oak Park?
Not under this guide's scope -- semi-permanent make-up sits under separate, generally stricter licensing (tattooing-family byelaws in England, a mandatory national scheme in Wales) and needs its own dedicated research before you offer it anywhere, including Honor Oak Park.
Is patch testing a legal requirement for mobile beauty treatments in Honor Oak Park?
It isn't confirmed as a flat legal requirement from any primary source. It's commonly a manufacturer product-instruction condition, often 48 hours before tint or lift treatments specifically, and frequently an insurer condition of cover -- check the specific products you use in Honor Oak Park.
