What Qualifications Do I Need for Mobile Foot Care?

Legal vs. commercially expected qualifications for Foot Health Practitioners in the UK.

Free 1 min read

There is no statutory minimum qualification for general foot care (Tier 2) work, provided you never use the protected titles 'podiatrist' or 'chiropodist' and don't misrepresent clinical qualifications you don't hold. In practice, nearly every client, insurer, and care home will expect evidence of recognised training — commonly a private awarding-body diploma (training equivalent to NVQ Level 4 plus supervised practical placement is referenced by at least one accredited register). To use the protected titles, you need an HCPC-approved qualification (e.g. BSc(Hons) Podiatry) and HCPC registration. Always verify a specific course's current accreditation directly with the awarding body before enrolling.
